TWERPS(Melbourne, AUS)mini-interview / GO TO: 3/30 w/ Twerps(aus), Reports, Needy Visions, Fucs @ Blue Triangle Loft(Chinatown) ALL AGES
So, the TWERPS(no not the band that put out a split w/ Showcase Showdown) will be visiting all of us here in Boston, and they are coming all the way from AUSTRALIA my friends, this wednesday 3/30. Chinatown loft show, crucial local support from REPORTS, NEEDY VISIONS(last show for a while), FUCS(a very mysterious band if there ever was), and the TWERPS themselves with their own take on raucous jangle pop. They have a 7" out and a cassette on NIGHT PEOPLE. If you can get with some serious pop, killer melodies, and even a little noise biz on top, then you'll be coming to the right place if you show up @ the the BLUE TRIANGLE. Show some messy indie pop Aussies some love and enjoy your wednesday night, THIS wednesday night. To get you all primed we asked the TWERPS a few questions...
1. Where in Australia are you guys from? What is the underground music scene like there?
we all live in melbourne australia! it has a great scene full of lots of friends band! we usually just play with our friends bands and keep it in the family, their are some really great bands at the moment playing shows in melbourne called Woolen Kits, Bitch Prefect, Super Wild Horses, Total Control, School of Radiant Living, Chook Race, Panel Of Judges, Beaches, Scott and Charlenes Wedding the list could go on, i think there is a really wonderful amount of cool pop acts coming out of Melbourne!
2. Will this tour be the first time you guys have played in the US? How often do you tour outside of Australia?
Yes this is the first time for three of us in the states! it has been really eye opening and amazing! the musical talent here has been fantastic! we have played in New Zealand before as Julia (GUITARIST) is from there and we played a little Festival there. It is always awesome to combine playing shows and traveling, although it can be quite exhausting. but we have put aside sufficient time at the end of the tour to have a holiday and have a bit more of a better look around!
3. Where else are you going on this tour? Are there any cities you are particularly psyched to visit?
Boston - My Mum grew up there!, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Fran!
4. What records have been blowing your mind lately?
we'll focus on the bands we've been lucky enough to play with or see here! In San Fran we played with The Royal Baths- their album is sick! We're loving the Puro Instinct album, and actually, haven't had time to check the album, but a band in Austin called Pure Ecstasy. Martin's been listening to a lot of John Lennon- 'Mind games' in particular. The Nerves, and The Laughing Clowns 'ghost of an ideal wife'.
5. Why should everyone come see you play at the Blue Triangle Loft?
Because we have a hot merch boy, Chris, 23, single. It will be his birthday! loves a skate, loves a good time, loves a 40.
